Palletroni Pizza - A Pallet Up-Cycle Project

Would you like a slice of Palletroni Pizza?  Following the appetizing success of my 2x4 Wooden Sub Sandwich, I decided to have some more fun and make a wooden pepperoni pizza.  Watch me make this delicious Italian delight below.

This project is for the Pallet Up-Cycle Challenge hosted by Sterling Davis, where you can make anything you want out of a pallet and enter to win prizes in a random drawing.  The deadline is December 24th, 2014 so hurry if you want to enter.

I used poplar slats that I salvaged from a pallet about a year ago.  I prefer to just cut the good parts off of a pallet and trash the rest.  It's quicker and easier, plus I avoid wrestling with nails and possibly splitting the wood I'm trying to save.

Pallets can be used for all sorts of practical and artistic projects, so get creative!  The next time you see a stack of pallets, maybe you'll think of a stack of Palletroni Pizzas instead!

Palletable Wine Racks

I finally got around to using the pallet I've been storing in the workshop since last Spring.  I had a special request for a pallet wine rack, so I was able to squeeze four of them out of a single 48" x 40" pallet.

Cutting apart the pallet was the easy part.  I just drew some lines where I wanted to cut and use my jig saw to cut it into the four wine racks.  I used my table saw to rip about 1" off the bottom of the front board of each one, being careful not to hit any nails.  Then I inserted some scrap plywood pieces for the bottom of each bottle section.

I cut some plywood strips for the glass hanger boards and attached them to the bottom.  I made a pattern so I could space the glass hanger slots out evenly.  The extra 1" I ripped off the front piece allows for the bottoms of the glasses to slide in.

I brushed on polyurethane to seal the wood and that gave the wine racks a nice golden color.  These were fun to make and I plan to hang one in our dining room.  I will sell the others and use that money to fill mine up!  Cheers!

Build a Garden Potting Bench out of pallets for FREE!

I built this Garden Potting Bench for free using just two pallets.  This project was inspired by Steve over at Woodworking for Mere Mortals.  It was a fun project and my wife loves it!
